Rating of G-Shock watches. Top 3 models

A watch is one of the only accessories that looks appropriate and organic on a man. This is why choosing a watch is a serious matter: it must be both useful in everyday life and informative of the wearer’s tastes, preferences and values. Casio’s G-Shock is almost perfect in this regard: affordable, stylish and indestructible.

Today we’re going to talk about the best G-Shock watches, with a ranking of models that includes both budget and flagship watches that are literally stuffed with advanced features.

3. Casio G-Shock GMW-B5000D-1E

Casio G-Shock (GMW-B5000D-1ER) (7 stores) • Prices »

The all-metal GMW-B5000D was created as a tribute to the very first model – the legendary DW5000. They replicate the 1983 original as much as possible, but bring modern features. There’s a virtually perpetual solar rechargeable battery, and the digital display is STN technology with excellent readability from all viewing angles. Time correction is done either by radio calibration or via a Bluetooth connection to a smartphone.

The price tag is certainly impressive, but you won’t find anything more beautiful in the top G Shock watches. The steel on the GMW-B5000D has a perfect polish, the surface is not just shiny but mirror-like – this watch looks phenomenal in person.

2. Casio G-Shock GWG-1000-1A3

Casio G-Shock GWG-1000-1A3 - 60mm in Resin - GB

The flagship of the MudMaster range, with the largest case of any g-shocks – 59.5 x 56.1 mm. The module is surrounded by alphaGel anti-vibration material, the buttons are protected against dust and dirt, but the main advantage is the sapphire crystal, which is noticeably more scratch-resistant than the mineral one. This is perhaps the most rugged G-Shock watch that Casio has ever produced.

There’s no newfangled Bluetooth connection, but the rest of the functionality is at its best. The watch charges from the sun, measures pressure and air temperature, indicates altitude, and acts as a compass. There’s radio synchronisation of Greenwich time, and thanks to the Smart Access head you can access all of the above functionality instantly. Very expensive, but judging by reviews the best G-Shock for extreme enthusiasts.

1. Casio G-Shock MTG-B2000D-1AER

G-Shock Mens Watch MTG-B2000D-1AER

Our G Shock review has come to an end, with the crowning achievement, the most premium model, the MTG-B2000D. The dome-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating provides an impressive depth to the dial and an interesting play of light refraction. The buttons with their steel ‘rubs’ look expensive, though rarely useful in everyday life – all adjustments are made via an app on the smartphone.

The bracelet is steel, but due to the use of carbon in the links and inside the case the watch is quite light. Water resistance – 200 meters, suitable even for divers. All the features listed for other models are of course available – it’s a flagship after all. The price of MTG-B2000D flies into space, but these jishokes compete not with their Japanese brothers, but with the Swiss premium brands, and cost cheaper at that. So if you want to demonstrate that you are different from those around you, this chronograph will help you stand out.
